Corns: What are they?

Corns can affect absolutely anyone, but thankfully with Scholl they are incredibly easy to get rid of. There’s no need to suffer from the pain or discomfort with Scholl’s range of plasters, cushions and removers to leave your skin smooth and clear.

What is a corn?

Corns are small circles of thick skin that are usually found on the toes or soles of the feet. Hard corns contain a core that presses on nerve endings, which causes pain in the affected area – usually the tops, tips and sides of toes. Soft corns appear in between the toes and stay soft because of the moisture levels and heat in their location; however they can still cause pain.

What causes corns?

Corns are usually a result of excessive pressure from footwear or socks. They can also be caused if you are wearing badly fitting shoes or if you spend a lot of time standing, which causes a lot of pressure on the feet. They are particularly more common on bony feet due to a lack of natural cushioning, which also causes an increased amount of pressure.

Treating corns:

Comfortable shoes and a reduced amount of pressure on the feet will help to prevent corns in the first place, but when they appear they can be eliminated. While treating your corn and through the process of removal, they need to be protected correctly in order to relive your pain, discomfort and pressure. Scholl offers complete treatment to relive and remove corns safely and effectively. They use the active ingredient salicylic acid that breaks down the corn and allows for easy removal. Their range of plasters and cushions also help to relieve pain and pressure before removal.
