Sexual Health

Whether it's premature ejaculation or a sexually transmitted infection - problems 'down below' are common. No matter how distressing or embarrassing your issue you will not be alone. Moreover, there is lots of help and advice to be found.

Sex is good for us - it's scientifically proven!

Sex protects us from all kinds of nasties including heart disease and depression. Researchers at Rutgers University in New Jersey have found the hormones released during sexual activity provide relief for back pain and migraines. Swedish scientists have linked orgasms to reduced depression. Several studies have associated good sex with lower blood pressure (thereby reducing the risk of stroke and heart disease) and scientists recently claimed that frequent orgasms (about 100 per year) can increase life expectancy by three to eight years.

Do aphrodisiacs really work?

Oysters, ginseng, chillies, liquorice, chocolate to name but a few - but do these foods or supplements really stimulate sexual desire? Some are said to be aphrodisiacs simply because of their shape or smell, while others due to their chemical properties. Oysters are high in zinc - associated with improved sexual potency in men; chocolate contains chemicals that boost mood and blood circulation, chillies increase sweating and heart rate (which also happens during sex), the smell of liquorice increases blood flow to the penis and ginseng has been linked to better erections....and yet most of these claims are unproven and America's Food and Drug Administration (FDA) claims aphrodisiacs are just folklore and warn that eating raw oysters can upset your tummy!
