Beconase Aqueous Nasal Spray contains the active ingredient beclometasone dipropionate, which is a type of medicine known as a corticosteroid. Corticosteroids are hormones that our bodies produce naturally by the adrenal glands and have many important functions including the control of inflammatory responses. It is therefore used within a nasal spray to decrease inflammation in the nasal passages which could have been caused by seasonal nasal allergies like hayfever as well as other nasal allergies like pet allergies. It also helps to prevent and treat inflammation of the nasal lining not due to infection or allergy.

The Nasal Spray will not relieve symptoms of nasal inflammation immediately and can take 2-3 days to have its full effect, which is why it is most effective to start using the spray a few days before symptoms are expected, like before pollen season or before you know you're coming into contact with pets. For the best results, the spray should be used regularly while you're still being exposed to the allergen in order to keep nasal inflammation under control.
