Key Benefits
Do not take Gaviscon Advance Aniseed Oral Suspension if you: Are allergic to any of the ingredients listed, including sodium alginate, potassium hydrogen carbonate, methyl (E218) or propyl (E216) parahydroxybenzoates, or benzyl alcohol.
Please check with your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine if you: Are pregnant or breastfeeding, have liver or kidney problems, need prolonged use, are on a controlled potassium or low-salt diet, or are taking other medicines such as antibiotics (tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones), iron supplements, thyroid hormones, chloroquine, bisphosphonates, or estramustine.
Before use: Ensure the cap seal is unbroken. Shake well before taking. Handle the glass bottle with care and do not drink directly from the bottle. Children under 12 years should only use this product under medical advice.
Possible side effects: Very rarely, an allergic reaction may occur, including rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or difficulty breathing. Stop taking the medicine and seek medical attention immediately if these occur. Report side effects via your doctor, pharmacist, or the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
Important warnings: Contains sodium (57.85 mg per 5 ml) and potassium (39.06 mg per 5 ml), which should be considered in patients with reduced kidney function or those on a low-salt diet. Contains benzyl alcohol, which may accumulate in the body in large amounts and cause side effects. Contains methyl (E218) and propyl (E216) parahydroxybenzoates, which may cause allergic reactions.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Can be taken if needed, but for the shortest possible duration. Seek advice from your doctor if unsure.
Driving and using machines: This medicine is unlikely to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery.
Overdose: If you take more than the recommended dose, contact your doctor or nearest hospital immediately and take the medicine with you.
Other precautions: Do not use after the expiry date. Keep out of the sight and reach of children. Do not dispose of via wastewater or household waste; follow your pharmacist’s guidance for safe disposal.
Active ingredient Each 5 ml dose contains Chlorphenamine Maleate 2 mg.
