Canesten Internal Cream (formerly Canesten Once) provides you with a single dose for treating thrush symptoms. The pre-fill applicator contains 5g of Canesten cream that can be inserted directly into the vagina for symptomatic thrush treatment.
Thrush is caused when there is disruption in the balance between bacteria and yeasts which naturally live within the vagina. This leads to symptoms like vaginal itching, burning sensations, and a thick discharge.
It can be caused by a variety of factors like:
Canesten Internal Cream can be used to prevent the growth of fungus and reduce itchy, burning sensations.
To prevent thrush from recurring:
Canesten Internal Cream, a powerful antifungal ointment, is specially formulated to kill the fungal infection. It targets yeast infection and works to soothe the area to relieve itching and irritation.
When not use Canesten Thrush Cream:
Do not use the cream if you have previously had an allergic reaction to the active ingredient clotrimazole. If you are unsure about this, ask your doctor.
See your doctor as soon as possible and do not use Canesten Thrush Cream if you have any of the following symptoms:
If you are pregnant or trying for a baby, tell your doctor or midwife before using Canesten Thrush Cream. If you have informed your doctor or midwife already, follow his/hers instructions carefully.
Before using the Canesten Thrush Cream, you should see your doctor if:
Like all medicines, Canesten Thrush Internal Cream can cause side eects, although not everybody gets them. As with all medicines, some people may be allergic to the cream. If you are allergic, a reaction will occur soon after you have used the medicine. If you experience an allergic reaction or the redness, burning, pain, itching or swelling get worse, stop using this product and tell your doctor straight away or contact the Accident and Emergency Department of your nearest hospital. Signs of an allergic reaction may include: • Rash. • Swallowing or breathing problems. • Swelling of your lips, face, throat or tongue. • Weakness, feeling dizzy or faint. • Nausea. After you apply Canesten Thrush Internal Cream you might experience: • Itching, rash, swelling, redness, discomfort, burning, irritation, vaginal peeling or bleeding. • Pain in the abdomen or pelvic area. If you experience any of the above eects, tell your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
Reporting of side eectsIf you get any side eects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. This includes any possible side eects not listed in this leaflet. You can also report side eects directly via the Yellow Card Scheme at: www.mhra.gov.uk/yellowcard or search for MHRA Yellow Card in the Google Play or Apple App Store. By reporting side eects you can help provide more information on the safety of this medicine.
Wash your hands before and after inserting the cream. Insert the contents of the prefilled applicator into the vagina preferably at night so that it can work while you sleep. If symptoms persist for more than 7 days, consult your doctor.
Contents: 5g of vaginal cream contains Clotrimazole 500mg (10% w/w). It also contains benzyl alcohol, polysorbate 60, sorbitan stearate, cetostearyl alcohol, isopropyl myristrate, cetyl palmitate and purified water.
