Recent Studies on Saw Palmetto

Boyle et al conducted an extensive review of 11 clinical trials involving saw palmetto titled ?Meta-analysis of clinical trials of permixon in the treatment of symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia' published in the journal "Urology? in 2000. Researchers evaluated data on 2,859 subjects with BPH and concluded that those who consumed saw palmetto extract experienced significant improvement in symptoms, compared to other subjects who took a placebo. ?This meta-analysis of all available published trials of Saw Palmetto in the treatment of men with benign prostatic hyperplasia revealed a significant improvement in peak urinary flow rate and reduction in nocturia (night-time urination) greater than with placebo?.
