What is Periodontitis?

Gum disease is known as Periodontitis or as periodontal disease. It is where bacteria begin to grow in your mouth and, if left unchecked, can lead to tooth loss. This is because of the resulting damage to the gum tissue around the teeth, leaving it loose.

What is Gingervitis?

Gingivitis or gum inflammation normally precedes Periodontitis, it is where bacteria in plaque begins to build up and cause the gums to inflame. This is can lead to your gums bleeding easily when brushing or flossing. If unchecked, it can become periodontitis and then to tooth loss.

How to Prevent Gum Disease?

Gum disease can be stopped and gingivitis can be reversed, provided you commit to a strong dental care routine that you maintain. Besides brushing and flossing regularly, this means at least two regular cleans by a dentist a year along with a regular check-up.
