An upcoming holiday, important appointment or a special occasion may mean you wish to temporarily delay your period.
Taking the contraceptive pill is one way of delaying your period. However, if you do not take a combined contraceptive pill you may be able to use norethisterone, which is typically prescribed at 3 tablets per day, starting 3 days before you expect your period to begin.
Please note that norethisterone does not act as a contraceptive when used to delay your period. It may not be suitable if you have a history of thrombosis. It's effect also vary from woman to woman and as with all medicine there is a chance you may encounter side effects.
