What is trapped wind?

 

What can cause trapped wind?

 

There are three main gas producers/causers:

 

- An imbalance in the populations of bacteria in the gut which can slow digestive transit causing an increase in gas production from over exertion.

Symptoms of trapped wind:

 

The most common symptoms of trapped wind are:

 
- Feeling uncomfortably full after eating
- Flatulence

 

- Avoiding food and drink that gives you gas.

- Eat slowly and chew your food.

 
 
There is usually no need to seek medical advice if you find you have trapped wind. But if an episode is prolonged and/or very painful then you should see your doctor.
