Iglu Mouth Ulcer Treatment Gel

What is Iglu Mouth Ulcer Gel?

Iglu Mouth Ulcer Treatment Gel is a triple-action gel that gets to work quickly in order to effectively treat mouth ulcers.

How does Iglu Mouth Ulcer Gel Work?

The two active ingredients lidocaine hydrochloride and aminoacridine hydrochloride work by stopping the pain and preventing infections. This sugar and alcohol-free gel can provide an antiseptic, pain-relieving, the long-lasting protective coating around the ulcer. This protective barrier sticks over the ulcer, protecting it from further irritation and damage to speed up the healing process.

This product is not suitable for children under 7 years of age.

Use a clean tissue to gently remove excess moisture and saliva from the ulcer area. Squeeze a small quantity of gel onto a clean, dry fingertip or cotton bud. Apply directly onto the ulcer using a single, gentle wiping action (avoid dabbing). The gel might seem paste-like and sticky at first; however, on contact with saliva, it will form a flexible and lasting adhesive shield over and around the ulcer area.

Caution before using Iglu Mouth Ulcer Treatment Gel:

  • Do not use the gel if you are sensitive to any of its ingredients
  • Although there are no specific restrictions to using the gel during pregnancy or breast-feeding, the potential risks are unknown and caution should therefore be exercised, as with any medicine. Ask your doctor or a pharmacist for advice.
  • Keep the gel away from the eyes. In case of accidental contact, wash eye immediately with water: continue rinsing for 10 to 15 minutes, holding the eyelids well apart and avoid getting the rinse liquid into the other eye. Consult a doctor if irritation persists.
  • Overdosage is unlikely to be a problem because of the low formulated concentration and the small pack size. Inappropriate large doses may make swallowing difficult due to the loss of feeling. This may increase the risk of food or drink going down the wrong way. Generalised numbness of the mouth may also lead to biting the inside of your mouth when eating.
  • Excessive overdose may also lead to generalised side-effects such as nervousness, drowsiness, breathing problems or low blood pressure. In such cases, seek urgent medical attention. If your mouth ulcer symptoms persist, seek medical advice.

Possible side effects whilst using Iglu gel:

Like all medicines, the gel may have side effects. Hypersensitivity reactions to lidocaine hydrochloride and aminoacridine hydrochloride occur rarely. If you become wheezy or short of breath after using the gel, discontinue use and contact your doctor or a pharmacist immediately. If you are concerned about any other side effects, seek medical advice.

Iglu Mouth Ulcer Treatment Gel contains:

Iglu gel is a soft, pale yellow, slightly opaque, oromucosal gel (a gel to be used in the mouth) with a characteristic peppermint odour containing two active ingredients, lidocaine hydrochloride 0.66% w/w and aminoacridine hydrochloride 0.05% w/w. It also contains carbomer, hydroxypropylcellulose, white soft paraffin, liquid paraffin and peppermint oil.

Lidocaine hydrochloride is a widely used local anaesthetic/painkiller. Aminoacridine hydrochloride is an antiseptic that kills bacteria and helps prevent infection.

I normally dont get ulcers, but got this painful mouth ulcer few days back. Using Bonjela initially didnt help at all. Then I tried Iglu and found it very good. The gel is quite strong and sticks well on the surface of the skin, just like an adhesive, forming a protective layer which helps the ulcer heal fast. Also as a home remedy I kept gargling throughout the day.
