Hills Prescription Diet Canine J/D Reduced Calorie is an innovative food that eases aching joints and preserves healthy cartilage for dogs with joint problems and movement difficulties. The high levels of Omega 3 fatty acids and balance of Omega 3 and Omega 6 helps to soothe the tissue surrounding the joints. It also contains natural glucosamine and chondroitin sulphate, which supports cartilage repair.
Joint problems occur when dogs get older and cartilage is worn away faster than it can be replaced. The cartilage essential as it acts as a cushion to protect the bones, which is why when it wears away joints can become swollen and painful and movement is seriously impaired. Dogs with joint problems may find it difficult to walk, run or jump and they may also flinch or yelp when the affected area is touched. Changes like this in the joints are not completely curable; however the right nutrition at the right time will help to preserve the healthy cartilage that is left.
