Felodipine which belongs to a group of medicines called calcium-channel blockers that act on the cardiovascular system (the heart and blood vessels) to help treat high blood pressure or reduce the frequency of your anginal attacks. Felodipine works by widening blood vessels to create less resistance to the blood flow, and results in lower blood pressure, which reduces the strain on your heart.
High blood pressure, or hypertension rarely has any noticeable symptoms but if it is left untreated it can increase your risk of suffering a kidney disease, a stroke, dementia, a heart attack or failure. High blood pressure affects 1 in 4 adults in England yet over 5 million people are estimated to be unaware they have it.
