Dr Browns offer a complete feeding system for happier babies; one that includes the only fully vented vacuum free feeding bottle. Widely recognised by parents and health professionals as the most effective way of preventing colic symptoms caused by regular bottles and teats, Dr Browns Feeding System offers your baby the opportunity for a more comfortable feed.
Dedicated to promoting good health in mothers and their babies, Dr Brown's goal is to provide the best technology-driven products available. Whether your baby is fed on expressed breast milk or infant formula, you will be amazed by the results.
The Dr Browns bottles feature a patented two-piece internal vent system that works unlike any other bottle design. The vent system fully vents our bottle for vacuum-free feeding, which we call positive-pressure flow, similar to breastfeeding. As the baby feeds, air is channeled from the teat collar through the vent system, bypassing the breastmilk or formula, to the back of the bottle. Air never mixes with the breastmilk or formula which minimizes oxidation and helps maintain essential nutrients like vitamins C, A and E.
Babies feed more comfortably because the vent system allows them to nurse without fighting the negative effects of a vacuum or the discomfort of ingesting air bubbles. This helps to reduce feeding problems like colic, burping, and wind. The breastmilk or formula flows freely, without teat collapse.
Q. Does the Dr Brown's baby bottle really work?
A. Yes it does. When babies feed they suck milk or formula from the bottle through the teat. As the liquid leaves the bottle, air enters in through the vent to take the place of the milk or formula. Our patented internal vent allows the air to enter and directs it to the area above the liquid, keeping the air and the liquid separate. Because there is no vacuum to inhibit the flow of liquid, babies can feed at their own pace.
Q. Is it necessary to only use Dr Browns teats on my Dr Brown's bottles?
A. Because the Dr Browns baby bottle is fully vented it requires a unique teat. Other bottles have a vacuum inside that restricts the flow of liquid, and because of the vacuum the teat on these bottles tend to have a very large hole. Using one of these teats on a Dr Browns baby bottle could result in feeding you baby much too fast, possibly causing the baby to choke.
Q. Can I use Dr Browns teats on other brands of bottles?
A. Dr Browns teats are of the highest quality. However they are specifically designed for the Dr Browns baby bottles and should not be used on other brands of bottles. The Dr Browns teat does not have a vacuum operated rim-vent like other brands of bottles. If a Dr Browns teat is used on an un-vented bottle the baby may experience feeding difficulties and could experience the discomfort commonly described as colic.
