Ramipril Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. Ramipril works by decreasing the production of substances that could raise your body’s blood pressure, making your blood vessels relax and widen which makes it easier for your heart to pump blood around your body.
Ramipril can be to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) to reduce the risk of having a heart attack or stroke. It can also reduce the risk and delay the progression of kidney problems and help to treat heart failure.
High blood pressure, or hypertension rarely has any noticeable symptoms but if it is left untreated it can increase your risk of suffering a kidney disease, a stroke, dementia, a heart attack or failure. High blood pressure affects 1 in 4 adults in England yet over 5 million people are estimated to be unaware they have it.
