Ovysmen® is a combined contraceptive measure which is referred to as ‘the pill’. They are taken to reduce the risk of pregnancy.
Ovysmen® is a combined contraceptive pill which you take to prevent getting pregnant. It contains a progestogen hormone called norethisterone and an oestrogen hormone called ethinylestradiol, which work together to prevent an egg being released from your ovaries. Ovysmen® also makes the mucus in your cervix thicker, making it difficult for sperm to reach the egg.
Ovysmen® is a 21 day pill. This means you take one each day for 21 days, followed by 7 days when you take no pills.

You will need to take 1 tablet of Ovysmen® every day for 21 days.
Ovysmen® comes in strips of 21 pills, each marked with a different day of the week. You must take the pill at the same time every day until the strip is finished. Swallow the pill whole, with water if necessary. Do not chew it.
Take Ovysmen® tablets exactly as your doctor has told you. If you are unclear on how to take this medicine, please check with your doctor or pharmacist.
Please note, like all medicine, Ovysmen® can cause side effects – although this does not apply to everyone who has taken them. Side effects are usually temporary with continued treatment or disappear when you stop tacking the medicine.

Each pill contains 500 micrograms norethisterone and 35 micrograms ethinylestradiol.
Ovysmen® also contains anhydrous lactose (a type of sugar), magnesium stearate and pregelatinised starch.
