Travellers’ Diarrhoea is a condition which can happen if you consume bacteria contaminated food or drink and can leave you with loose stools, nausea, and abdominal cramps. Approximately 50% of people that travel abroad experience symptoms of diarrhoea so it’s a good idea to travel prepared. Chemist Direct’s Travellers’ Diarrhoea pack can help reduce the duration and lessen the symptoms of diarrhoea. Diarrhoea is usually caused by bacteria such as salmonella. The pack can help treat the bacterial causes of diarrhoea, reduce the risk of dehydration, prevent loose stools and combat nausea.

What’s in this pack?

  • 2 x Ciprofloxacin tablets, an oral antibiotic to treat travellers’ diarrhoea. Take one tablet on onset of symptoms and another tablet 12 hours later.
  • 10 x Prochlorperazine 3mg buccal tablets to treat nausea. If you experience symptoms of nausea take one or two of these twice a day for a maximum of 2 days.
  • 30 x Loperamide tablets to treat loose stools. The initial dose is 2 tablets followed by 1 tablet (2 mg) after every loose stool.
  • 6 x Dioralyte rehydration sachets. Take one sachet mixed with water after every loose motion up to a maximum of 5 sachets per day for 3-4 days. Dioralyte helps replace fluid, salts and sugars lost following bouts of diarrhoea.

This pack is not suitable for anyone allergic to ciprofloxacin, pregnant or breast-feeding, or anyone with liver or kidney problems.

When do I need to see a doctor?

If taken as instructed the medicines are very effective in dealing with acute diarrhoea. If however you experience symptoms including high fever, dizziness, blood in stools and persistent diarrhoea you should see a doctor as soon as possible.
