Cialis Tablets

Cialis is a ED (erectile dysfunction) treatment taken 30 minutes before sex and is effective for 36 hours. Unlike other erectile dysfunction drugs, Cialis can be taken with or without food.

Cialis also known by its key ingredient name Tadalafil citrate is a prescription drug used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. Tadalafil is a part of a group of medicines called phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors. Cialis comes in a ‘when required formulation’ and a ‘once daily’ formulation. For more information on the ‘one a day’ formulation of Cialis please click here.

How does it work?

Cialis increases the blood flow to the penis, making it easier to achieve and maintain an erection in response to sexual stimulation for men with erectile dysfunction. Cialis starts working within 30 minutes to an hour, and its effects last for up to 36 hours. Although Cialis’s effects can last up to 36 hours, men taking Cialis will only be able to achieve an erection when sexually aroused.

Can I take Cialis?

Cialis is suitable for men aged 18 and above and studies have shown it is effective in treating 81% of cases of erectile dysfunction. Cialis may not be suitable for you if you take protein inhibitors, Nitrates (which are often prescribed for chest pain) medications for prostate problems or high blood pressure. If you take any of these medicines and you require treatment for erectile dysfunction you should consult your own GP for further advice.

You can find more information on this in the Cialis patient information leaflet.

How do I take Cialis?

The recommended starting dose for Cialis is 10mg taken approximately 30 minutes before sexual activity. The strength of the dose is normally adjusted depending on the response to 5mg-20mg as a single dose when needed. Our doctors recommend that you take the lowest dose possible of Cialis to achieve the desired effect so as to reduce the probability of experiencing side effects. No more than one dose should be taken in a 24 hour period.

Unlike other drugs in the same class, food has no effect on the results of Cialis, so it can be taken with or without food. It is recommended you avoid alcohol when taking Cialis. Drinking too much alcohol with Cialis can result in side effects such as headache or dizziness.

Are there any side effects?

Some men report side effects when taking Cialis – but at the recommended dose these are mild and don’t last long. Side effects include headaches, backache flushing, and nasal congestion. For more information on side effects please see the patient information leaflet.
