Norethisterone 5mg tablets have been developed to help women temporarily delay their menstruation cycles. This treatment can be used if a special occasion, important meeting or holiday would make it preferable to delay your period.
The active ingredient, norethisterone belongs to a group of medicines called progestogens which work by acting on the receptors in the body to mime or exaggerate the effects of the natural hormone, progesterone.

The typical dose of norethisterone 5mg is 3 tablets per day, starting 3 days before your period is due. The uncoated tablets should be taken with water. The tablets should be taken whole and not divided or crushed.
Please do not take more norethisterone than prescribed.

If you need to take the tablets for a long time, you may get breakthrough bleeding or an increase in body hair might occur.
If you suffer from migraine or epilepsy –

If you are due to have surgery to your abdomen or limbs -
If you are due to have surgery in the future you may be asked to stop your Norethisterone Tablets four to six weeks beforehand to help prevent a thrombosis.

Each of the film-coated tablets contains 5mg of norethisterone.
