Fluvastatin tablets contain fluvastatin sodium which belongs to a group of medicines known as statins. They work by lowering the level of lipids in the bloodstream of people suffering from high cholesterol after changes to diet and exercise havenít helped.
Cholesterol is a fatty substance, also known as a lipid, which is vital for the normal functioning of the body. It is mainly produced by your liver, however it can also be found in some foods. If you have high levels of lipids in your bloodstream, also known as hyperlipidemia, it can lead to serious health complications.
If you have high levels of cholesterol it is crucial to lower them before developing a more serious health condition. In the first instance, you should look to maintain a balanced, healthy diet Ė keeping fatty foods to a minimum. Swapping foods which contain saturated fats for fruit, vegetables or wholegrain cereals. This will help prevent the return of high cholesterol. Increasing your amount of exercise and quitting smoking can also help to lower our cholesterol.
To obtain Simvastatin, simply add to basket to begin your consultation.
Please use Fluvastatin tablets exactly as your doctor has told you, making sure to read all packing and leaflets thoroughly before use.
The dose range for adults is 20 to 80mg per day and depends on the extent of cholesterol lowering which needs to be achieved. Dose adjustments may be made by your doctor at 4-week or longer intervals.
Please note, like all medicine, Fluvastatin tablets can cause side effects Ė although this does not apply to everyone who has taken them. Side effects are usually temporary with continued treatment or disappear when you stop tacking the medicine.
Before taking your medicine please read the patient information leaflet in detail to acquaint yourself with the potential side effects.
