The EpiPen Jr. Auto-Injector contains a sterile solution of adrenaline to be injected into the outer part of the thigh muscle when experiencing a sudden and life threatening allergic reaction, also known as anaphylactic shock. It works on the cardiovascular (heart and circulation) system and respiratory (lung) system by rapidly making blood vessels smaller and relaxing muscles in the lungs to improve breathing, stimulating the heartbeat and reducing swelling. In order to qualify for this item you will need to complete a medical questionnaire which will be approved by our qualified doctor.

Anaphylactic shock is when the body experiences an extreme and potentially life threatening reaction to an allergen. It can happen in reaction to insect bites or stings, food, drugs or exercise.

The reaction happens when the body tries to protect itself from an allergen by releasing chemicals into the bloodstream. The symptoms that signal the onset of an anaphylactic shock occur within minutes of exposure and include:

Itching of the skin, raised rash (like a nettle rash), flushing, swelling of the lips, throat, tongue, hands and feet, wheezing, hoarseness, shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps and in some cases a loss of consciousness.

The adrenalin in the EpiPen Jr. works by very quickly making blood vessels smaller, relaxing muscles in the lungs to help improve breathing, reducing any swelling and stimulating the heartbeat. It works on the cardiovascular and respiratory systems and is meant for self-administration in times of crisis.
