Moschino is a part of the Aeffe fashion group and a design house and manufacturer of women's and men's fashion. It was originally created in 1983 by the late Franco Moschino, and is well known for its "classico con twist", (classical with a twist) style. The current head of design, Rossella Jardini, has successfully taken Franco's humour and style and made it relevant to today. The look of Moschino garments is often referred to as classical, whimsical, and sexy, and unique styles usually filled with a dash of humour.
Artistic and iconoclastic from childhood, Franco Moschino happened upon fashion almost by chance. An odd-job man without a formal education, he became an illustrator for Gianni Versace until he broke away and in 1983 launched his own label. He started off with jeans and casual wear which was quickly followed by shoes, lingerie, highly original eveningwear, and ultimately a perfume. He is invariably described as an inventor and a "mad hat" but his perfect mastery of the classic rules of "cutting and stitching" are the base for all his creations which come to life with a strong touch of irony and a sharp sense of humour.
Moschino Perfume for Women, was launched in 1987. Moschino Aftershave for Men followed in 1990. There are around 16 Moschino Perfume & Moschino Aftershave fragrances. The earliest Moschino Perfume created in 1987 and the newest is from 2012. Moschino Aftershave fragrances were made in collaboration with perfumers including Antoine Maisondieu, Olivier Cresp, Olivier Polge, Ilias Ermenidis, Vincente Marcello, Nathalie Lorson, and Olivier Pescheux.
