Sun Care for Oily Skin

Sun care can be a bit of a nightmare if you’re battling oily skin. Your already clogged pores get another dose of oil from greasy sun creams, and this can trigger excess shine or a breakout on your face. We’ve gathered some of the best options that are non-greasy and oily skin friendly.

Sun Cream for the face

Wearing an SPF every day is an important step in protecting your skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays, and the premature ageing associated with sun exposure. For oily skin, a light-weight formula, designed for use on the face, is the best option. Think outside of your traditional sun care brands and instead consider sun care products made by skin care brands.

We love La Roche-Posay Anthelios Anti Shine Matte Fluid. It’s SPF30, so you’re protected from the sun, but it’s also an ultra-light, non-greasy and non-sticky formula, making it non-clogging. The matte finish stops you looking shiny, and its minimal formula is great for sensitive skin.

Vichy offer some great options for oily skin. Try Ideal Soleil Mattifying Face Dry Touch, which is designed for oily skin, without compromising on protection. It’s SPF30, but is non-greasy to keep shine at bay. You could also try Ideal Soleil Anti-Blemish Corrective Care, which is formulated for blemish prone skin, so is great for when clogged pores have led to blackheads or acne. The lightweight texture sinks in easily, and with no shine.

Getting it off again

If your skin is prone to objecting to being covered in an SPF all day, your cleansing routine is just as important as your sun care! Take the sun scream off effectively, and sweep away any residual oil that might lead to breakouts.

Get started with La Roche-Posay Effaclar 3 Step Skincare Regime. It combines a purifying gel, moisturiser and a clarifying lotion, all designed for oily skin. Cleanse, tone and hydrate, leaving no trace of your sun care behind. Instead your face will be clearer and brighter.
