Bendroflumethiazide tablets belong to a group of medicines known as thiazide diuretics. They are taken, among of things, to help reduce high blood pressure. High blood pressure, or hypertension rarely has any noticeable symptoms but if it is left untreated it can increase your risk of suffering a kidney disease, a stroke, dementia, a heart attack or failure. High blood pressure affects 1 in 4 adults in England yet over 5 million people are estimated to be unaware they have it.
The only way to identify a high blood pressure problem and potentially catch a life threatening condition is to have your blood pressure checked regularly, at least once every 5 years. People over the age of 65, people who are overweight and have an unhealthy diet are the most at risk of high blood pressure. There are steps which can be taken to reduce your blood pressure and keep it in check.

Please take Bendroflumethiazide tablets exactly as your doctor has told you, making sure to read all packing and leaflets thoroughly before use.
Swallow the tablets with water in the morning as this will reduce the chance of needing to urinate frequently through the night.
For adults and children over 12 years old the initial starting does for high blood pressure is usually 2.5 – 5mg, once a day.
Please note, like all medicine, Bendroflumethiazide tablets can cause side effects – although this does not apply to everyone who has taken them. Side effects are usually temporary with continued treatment or disappear when you stop tacking the medicine.
