Certain problems may occur as a result of taking Avodart, some are:
- Decreased sexual interest
- Decreased amount of semen/sperm
- Testicle pain and swelling
- Increased breast size or breast tenderness
In some cases these side effects may continue even after stopping the treatment. If this is the case for you and these effects persist or worsen, you should tell your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
While most individuals do not experience serious side effect, allergic reaction can happen. Get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms like serious allergic reaction, rash, itching, and swelling in the face, tongue, and throat, severe dizziness, and difficulty breathing.
Before you start taking Avodart, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have been allergic to it in the past, or if you have any other present allergies. Discuss your medical history. This medication contains inactive ingredients which may cause an allergic reaction or other side effects if you are not careful.
If you are about to have a surgery, by open with your doctor about medications, either prescription or non-prescription, or herbal supplements that you are using at the time. These medications and herbal supplements may interfere with the effectiveness of your surgery or your healing thereafter.
Do not donate blood while you are taking Avodart and for at least six months after you stop taking it. This will help prevent your blood from being given to pregnant women. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should not be exposed to Avodart, because it can affect their children. Children too should not come into contact with Avodart. It is a prescription, male-only drug.
