Aptamil Pepti-Junior contains extensively hydrolysed whey-based formula, containing 50% medium-chain triglycerides (MCT) and glucose syrup to promote digestion and absorption. Suitable from birth for bottle fed babies.
Contains long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCPs), for the brain, eye and nervous system development. Contains nucleotides, which support the growth and maturation of the gut and ensure your baby has a healthy immune system.
Has a low osmolality (210 mOsmol/kg H2O) and is suitable as a sole source of nutrition for infants and as a principal source of nourishment, with other foods, for infants and children over 6 months of age.
It is important to provide parents with advice on how to make up specialist infant milk, as they may not be aware that it can differ from standard formula. Here is some general guidance, but please see preparation instructions on the product packaging for further information.
STEP 1. Wash hands and sterilise all utensils according to the manufacturer's instructions.
STEP 2. Boil one litre of fresh water. Leave kettle to cool for no longer than 30 mins. Measure the required amount of water into a sterilised bottle. Be careful of scalding. Do not use artificially softened or repeatedly boiled water.
STEP 3. Using the scoop provided, level off the powder with a clean knife. Do not press or heap the powder.
STEP 4. Add the correct measure of powder to the water. Adding too many or too few scoops can be harmful. Cap the bottle and shake vigorously for 25 seconds to dissolve the powder. Remove cap and replace with a sterilised teat.
STEP 5. Cool under running tap. Check temperature of feed. Feed immediately.
Breastfeeding is best for babies. Aptamil Pepti-Junior is a food for special medical purposes for the dietary management of malabsorption related conditions.
