When you place an order with us, we do not charge your credit/debit card immediately. A hold is put on the funds (similar to when you visit a hotel reception desk and an authorisation is taken). We will only charge your card when your item is dispatched. If your order is dispatched in multiple parcels, your whole order will be charged for on dispatch of your first parcel. Unfortunately this does not apply to Paypal, where we are forced to take payment for the full order at checkout due to Paypal's rules.

Delivery charges to Europe are shown at checkout dependent on the weight of your parcel and destination. Delivery is usually within 3-10 days from dispatch. Certain product and weight restrictions apply.

Yes we do.  Delivery to regions outside of Europe are charged at £19.99 regardless of weight. Delivery is usually 5-10 days. All prices shown online include VAT. At checkout VAT (up to 20%) will be deducted where applicable.

A prescription is valid for six months from the date written on the prescription, with the exception of controlled drugs (see 'controlled drugs' below).

The date on the prescription can be moreover:

• The date the prescription is authorized by the health expert who delivers it, or
• A date the health expert signifies the prescription should not be distributed before.

If a prescription consists of both these dates, the six months runs from the later of the two dates.

Repeatable prescriptions:

Repeatable prescriptions can be dispensed any number of times up to the limit stated by the prescriber and must be dispensed for the first time within six months of the date stated on the prescription. Therein after, the repeat prescription can be dispensed for a further six months in agreement with the instructions on the prescription.

Controlled drugs

Morphine, pethidine and methadone are categorized as Controlled drugs. These drugs are frequently misused, so they are held in controlled storage and can only be dispensed and consumed under the strict supervision of the pharmacist.

A prescription for a controlled drug is lvalid for 28 days from the date mentioned on the prescription.

A prescription for a controlled drug that instructs that the medicine must be delivered to you in a number of repeats must be dispensed within 28 days of the date on the prescription.

NHS prescriptions are generally written by your GP for you to take to your local pharmacy to collect.

Doctors operating in NHS hospitals can also write NHS prescriptions. Generally, you will be advised to take your prescription to the hospital pharmacy to collect your medicine.

From May 2006, qualified Independent Nurse Prescribers (previously recognized as Extended Formulary Nurse Prescribers) can recommend any medicine for any medical condition within their capability, together with some controlled drugs.

At this time policies also came into existence to permit self-governing prescriptions by pharmacists. Eligible pharmacys with self-governing prescribers can prescribe for any medical condition within their professional and clinical capability.

An NHS dentist can supply you with an NHS prescription if you require treatment for a dental or oral condition.

Supplementary prescribers include chiropodists, podiatrists, physiotherapists, optometrists and radiographers who have undergone expert guidance. They might prescribe any NHS medicine provided it is overseen by a self-governing prescriber who gives the early analysis and starts the treatment. The Supplementary prescriber then examines the patient and recommends additional supplies of medicine when required. A prescription for any drug, including controlled drugs and unlicensed medicines are acceptable.

Im afraid that this is a prescription item. If you cannot get to your doctors I would suggest arranging a call out from your local gp. Once you have the prescription you can then send it to ourselves and we will post it out to you. For more details please visit our Prescriptions information page.

Pregnant women and those who have had a baby in the previous 12 months get free:

• NHS prescriptions, and
• NHS dental prescriptions if pregnant when conventional for the course of treatment, or if you've the patient has had the baby up to 12 months before the treatment.

To enable for free prescriptions the patient should complete an FW8 application form to get a Maternity Exemption Certificate. Applications can be submitted once your pregnancy has been certified by a GP or midwife, or any time during the 12 months after the birth.

The certificate will be legitimate from the first day of the month when the request is received until:

• 12 months after the expected date of the baby's birth, or
• 12 months after the baby's date of birth (if the baby's already been born).

To request a reimbursment for any prescriptions prior to receiving the certificate the patient should ask their pharmacist for the official NHS acknowledgment, form FP57 (WP57 in Wales).

According to the Medicines Act 1968 there are 3 official categories of medicines:

• General sales list medicines (GSL),
• Pharmacy medicines (P), and
• Prescription medicines (POM).

The Medicines Act allows a large amount of medicines to be sold or supplied at a pharmacy, under the supervision of a pharmacist.

General sales list medicines can be sold at other retail outlets, such as supermarkets, provided they’re pre-packed and counted and the customer has to asked a sales assistant to buy the medicine. It’s illegal to sell medicines from market stalls or from vehicles, such as at car boot sales.

General Sales List Medicines (GSL):

The General Sales List medicines can be sold by a wide range of shops, such as newsagents, supermarkets and petrol stations. Normally only a small pack size or low strength of the medicine can be sold. For instance:

• The biggest pack size of paracetamol that a 'normal' shops can sell is 16 tablets, however pharmacies can sell packs of 32 tablets.
• The biggest strength of ibuprofen tablets that 'nomal' shops can sell is 200mg, but pharmacies can sell tablets at 400mg strength.

Pharmacy Medicines (P):

Only pharmacies can sell P labeled drugs, and a pharmacist must make the sale or at least be on the premises.

In order for the sale of a P medicine to be carried out the customer must be asked whether they or the person they are represent has any medical conditions or takes any other drugs, to confirm that the medicine they would like to buy is suitable.

For instance, some nasal decongestant medicines can elevate your blood pressure, so you’ll be inquired if you have high blood pressure prior to being sold the medicine.

Some pharmacy medicines may only be sold if the pharmacist is confident that the medicine poses no health risks to the patient. For instance, emergency contraception (the morning after pill) might only be sold to a woman who requires it, and she must be over 16 years of age.

On some occasions the pharmacist may also recommend that you consult your GP.

For instance, if you’ve use clotrimazole pessaries for vaginal thrush more than twice in six months, the pharmacist is obliged to tell you to visit your GP so they can make a decision whether it is the most suitable medicine for you.

Prescription Only Medicines (POM):

It is illegal to buy Prescription Only Medicines without a prescription from a fully licensed and registered medical practitioner – i.e. your GP, nurse, dentist, optometrist.

A number of prescription medicines are categorized as controlled drugs, such as morphine, pethidine and methadone. Strict officially permissions controls apply to the dispensing of these medicines.

Reclassifying medicines:

A few medicines are even reclassified from:

• Prescription only to pharmacy,
                       or
• Pharmacy to general sales list.

This might occur after several years when it‘s known that the medicine is safe for most people to use.

For example, aciclovir cream (used to treat cold sores) was first available as a POM. After a few years, it was reclassified as a pharmacy medicine and later it was reclassified again to GSL.

We do stock Betadine Ointment without a prescription but it is currently out of stock. We do have Betadine Dry Powder Spray available which is an antiseptic for the treatment and prevention of infection in wounds including ulcers, burns, cuts and other minor injuries.

We can only accept Pet Prescriptions from within the UK but for future reference we do accept Human prescription from within the UK and EU.
