About OptiBac Probiotics

OptiBac Probiotics
OptiBac Probiotics food supplement help maintain overall digestive health, comfort and immunity throughout the gut. They believe in helping people to obtain healthy, fulfilling lives by helping them take charge of their well-being and by offering them a natural choice in managing their health.

What are probiotics?

Probiotics, often referred to as ‘good’ or ‘friendly bacteria’, are microorganisms that are beneficial to the human body.  The body is naturally host to both good bacteria (probiotics) and bad bacteria (pathogens). Having a good balance of probiotics over pathogens is key to maintaining a healthy digestive system, immune system and good energy levels.

What do probiotics do?

Probiotics support your digestive health; producing specific enzymes needed in digestion of food. As well as aiding the break down of foods substances, probiotics improve the absorption of vitamins & minerals into the bloodstream. Probiotics even produce B complex vitamins & vitamin K.

Probiotics support your immunity by stimulating the body’s natural defences, and by lining the intestines with a protective layer of friendly bacteria that bars pathogenic substances in the gut from harming the body. As two-thirds of the body's immune system is managed in the gut, it is important to keep one's probiotic levels high.

Who can benefit from taking probiotics?

People with an imbalance of probiotics and pathogens in the gut may experience poor digestion, lowered natural immunity and a large variety of conditions such as:-

> Low Energy Levels
> Poor Immunity
> Bloating
> Food intolerances or Allergies
> Acne, Eczema
> Indigestion, Heartburn
> Excessive Gas
> Constipation or Diarrhoea
> Candida Overgrowth and/or Thrush
> Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
> Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)

Specific strains for specific conditions

Different types, or strains, of good bacteria can have different effects on the body. That’s why it is important to take the right probiotic for your needs… here is an overview of how some of the more well-known probiotic strains work:

Lactobacillus acidophilus is probably the most well known species of probiotic.  Naturally residing in the small intestine, acidophilus is well documented for its use in preventing Candida overgrowth, reducing the risk of traveller’s tummy, and in softening the harsh symptoms of conditions such as IBS.

Bifidobacterium infantis is well known for its benefits in children’s gastrointestinal health and general immunity.  It can also be given to adults however, and shows much potential in boosting resistance to flus and colds.  Infantis has been clinically tested to hinder the adhesion of pathogenic strains of E. Coli in the gut.

Saccharomyces boulardii is a unique, internationally renowned probiotic yeast which has undergone years of rigorous scientific research and trials.  S. boulardii has been found to bind to harmful bacteria such as E. coli and Salmonella, and to flush them out of the body; naturally working against diarrhoea.  Recent research has also started to demonstrate its anti-fungal properties, reducing Candida levels in the body, or treating symptoms such as Athlete’s foot.  S. boulardii can be taken on a regular basis by people with such conditions, or by those with IBS and a tendency towards diarrhoea, as well as sufferers of IBD.
