Dioralyte Sachets Blackcurrant is indicated for the replacement of essential body water, sugars & salts in the treatment of acute diarrhoea in infants, children and adults. Early use is important to avoid dehydration, particularly, in the young and elderly.
Why use Re-hydration Sachets
Diarrhoea makes you lose more fluids and electrolytes (salts such as sodium and potassium) than you usually would and can make you dehydrated. Sachets of re-hydration salts are used to replace body fluids lost as a result of diarrhoea. This is particularly important in frail and elderly people and children with diarrhoea.
The contents of the sachets are dissolved in water to provide the fluid. The sugar (glucose) that is in the sachets helps the water and electrolytes to be absorbed from the intestines.
The contents of each sachet should be dissolved in 200ml of fresh drinking water (for adults and children). Freshly boiled and cooled water should be used for infants and when fresh water is not available. The solution should be made up immediately before use and used within one hour. If refrigerated the solution may be kept for up to 24 hours.
