Omega 3 are a family of unsaturated fatty acid. They are essential as they can only be obtained from the diet or in supplement form as they can not be manufactured by the body, but are required for good health.
Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and Docosahexanoic Acid (DHA) are nutritionally important polyunsaturated omega 3 fatty acids (PUFAs). The advanced technology of the enteric-coated technology is designed to withstand stomach acids, protecting the Omega 3 Essential Fatty Acids until the capsule passes through the small intestines where it dissolves; the Omega 3 Essential Fatty Acids are then released. Direct delivery to the small intestine reduces the required dose by 1/3 as the oil is not affected by stomach acid, additionally the direct delivery provides a higher concentration of fish oil at the site of maximum absorption of fats.
