Its that time of year again, Christmas is fast approaching, there are countless parties and dinners you must attend, and then you awake one morning with this strange feeling that something mysterious has happened to you overnight.Thats what happened to me one day last week. When I first awoke my mouth felt like one of Ghandi's flip-flops and my throat felt oddly like the other one. This was due to my nose feeling like it had been stuffed with 4 toilet rolls, leaving me only able to breath through my mouth all night. Just in case that didn't make me feel bad enough my head felt as though it had spent the night crushed in a vice, while my body made me feel as though I'd spent it break-dancing!Okay so maybe I don't have loads of (or any) party invitations and, being a stay-at-home Mum, theres no office Christmas meal to attend. However it is still an inconvenient time for me to be ill. Well, there isnt such a thing as a *convenient* time to be ill, especially if youre a Mother! Its 8am; my son has been downstairs, in his pyjamas, watching television for an hour already and needs to be ready to go to his Pre-School Christmas party in just over an hour. My husband has just walked in the door, from work, I get out of bed; nearly pass out with the dizziness and then gravity takes over the contents of my nose!HOW AM I GOING TO GET THROUGH TODAY?By carrying a box of tissues with me (my next op perhaps), wherever I go and dosing myself up on Beechams Cold and Flu, thats how..
