If you are given too much Parvolex you may get the ‘allergic’ or ‘hypersensitivity’ side effects listed in the second paragraph of the next section ‘Are there any side effects?’ and they may be more severe.
Tell your doctor if you experience any of these side effects.
Are there any side effects?
As with all medicines, side effects can occur and these may including any of the following:
'Allergic' or 'hypersensitivity' reactions such as nausea, vomiting, irritation at injection site, flushing, itching, rashes, swelling, difficulty breathing, a fall in blood pressure causing dizziness and, more rarely, rapid heart beat or increased blood pressure can occur.
These effects have usually occurred between 15 and 60 minutes after the start of the infusion and, in many cases, are relieved by stopping the infusion. Treatment with other medicines, e.g. antihistamines, may be necessary. Once the reaction is under control, the infusion with Parvolex can be restarted.
In rare instances, the following side effects have occurred:
Coughing, chest tightness or pain, puffy eyes, sweating, feeling unwell, high temperature, warmth, blurred vision, slow heart beat, fainting, facial or eye pain, upset salt balance in the blood, a reduced number of platelets in the blood which makes clotting more difficult, the infusion may leak out of the blood vessel and go into the surrounding tissue, breathing/heart beat stop, noisy breathing in, feeling anxious, joint pain/disease, fits, bluish discoloration from low oxygen levels, decreased levels of potassium or urea in the blood, changes in the heart’s electrical activity, and death.
If you think that this medicine has upset you in ANY way, please tell your doctor.
